Arasaka's contracts

Arasaka takes kill contracts. The client pays the corporation, the money stays with it until the order closes, and its staff on shift take the contract, hunt the target by its trace and get the reward once the target is taken down. It all goes through the phone, in the “Contracts” app.

#The “Contracts” app

  • For Arasaka's staff and for anyone with an open order of their own, the second widget on the phone's home screen becomes the “Contracts” widget (the GPS keeps its own tile). The app opens through it.
  • In the app: the open orders, “My orders”, the target's dossier and trace, and “How contracts work” with the rules.
  • The phone shows the server's own time, so the orders' terms are the same for everyone.

#How to order

#Through an employee

  1. Find an Arasaka employee on shift and stand next to them, within 5 m.
  2. The employee opens “New order”, picks you among the people nearby, types in the target (their full name or #ID), the reward and, if wanted, a note for the hunters, presses “Check” and “Send to the client”.
  3. You get “A contract form for you”. The form has the target, the reward, Arasaka's fee, the total and the term. “Pay” or “Refuse”: you have 60 seconds to decide.

#At the desk in Arasaka Tower

  • In Arasaka Tower's lobby, past the security, stands “The contracts desk”, with an Arasaka employee behind it. If no employee who may take orders is on shift, walk up to it and press E “Contracts desk: place an order”: you fill in the form yourself.
  • If staff are on shift, an employee takes the order. The “Call an employee” button sends everyone on shift a notice and a route to the desk.

#Money

How much
Reward30,000 to 5,000,000 €$
Arasaka's fee20% of the reward, at least 10,000 €$
Term72 hours
Orders a dayNo more than 3 from one account
  • Paid at once: the reward and the fee are taken when you pay, from your account first and the rest in cash. The money stays with Arasaka until the order closes.
  • The order is done: the reward goes to the hunter's bank account, the fee to Arasaka's treasury, and the client gets “Your order is done”.
  • The term ran out or the client called the order off (“My orders”, “Call the order off”): the reward goes back to the client's account, the fee stays with the corporation.
  • The target joined Arasaka: the corporation doesn't hunt its own, so the order closes. The client gets everything they paid back into their account: both the reward and the fee. The hunters get “The contract on ... is closed: this person now works for the corporation”.
  • The client is anonymous: the hunters don't see who ordered.

#Who can be ordered

  • Not allowed: yourself and your own characters, Arasaka's staff (the corporation takes no orders on its own people), a newcomer until they've played 5 hours, and someone who already has an open order on them. After a done order on the same person, a new one can come 12 hours later.
  • A new character can't order until they've played a little.
  • City services on duty. A police officer, a Trauma Team medic, a City Hall or Network 54 News employee can be ordered, but while they're on duty there's no trace of them, and taking them down on duty doesn't close the order. Off duty they're citizens like anyone else.

#The hunters

  • Contracts can be taken by staff on shift from rank 2: “Take the contract” in the app. Up to 3 hunters on one order, up to 2 contracts for one employee at a time. “Give it up” drops it.
  • A contract is done when the target is taken down by one of the hunters who took it, while that hunter is on shift. Only what happens after the contract was taken counts: if the target was already down, there's no reward. The reward goes to them, and the other hunters get word that a colleague closed the contract.
  • The shift's end or leaving the city drops the trace and the contract.
  • The law is the same for all: for the police it's an ordinary assault, a contract doesn't protect anyone from the law.

#The trace

  • A circle, not a point. The hunter sees a circle on the app's map of Night City: the target is somewhere inside it, not at its middle. The trace refreshes once a minute, and “Route to the zone” sets a route to the circle.
  • The higher the rank, the sharper: at rank 2 the circle is 350 m and the trace comes every 60 seconds, and with each rank the circle shrinks and the trace comes more often. A cyberdeck in your pockets adds two more steps.
  • Where the target is: in the city, indoors (then the trace leads to its door), out of the city (then you see where and how long ago it was last seen), on duty or in custody (no trace).
  • The target's dossier: the name, sex, age and photo, if their account has one.
