While the city's real calls are few, the city finds work for those on duty itself: the police, Trauma Team's medics, N54 News's reporters, City Hall's staff and Arasaka's security. An abandoned car, a crime scene, an injured citizen in the street, a news report, a business inspection, a perimeter round: the city pays for every call done, into your bank account.
#The calls board
- Duty calls are seen only by faction members on duty: F1, the “Faction” tab, the “Calls” section, the “Duty calls” block. For the police and the medics it comes after the 911 calls.
- A new call comes as a notice, “Duty call: kind · district · amount €$”, with the hint “Take it on the Faction page, in Calls”.
- Each call on the board shows its kind and district, the distance, the pay and how long it stays: “N min left on the board”. Next to it are the “Route” and “Take the call” buttons.
- A call stays on the board for 10 minutes. A new one comes every minute and a half, and the board holds at most 4 calls: as many as the faction's members on duty, plus one.
- You have one duty call at a time, and it has to be done within 20 minutes. Otherwise it's “The call's time ran out”, with no pay.
- You can give a call up: “Give up”, then “Sure? Give up”. The next call can be taken a minute later.

#How to do them
- Marks and the route. A call you take sets marks where something has to be done and a route to them. The call's card on the screen shows its kind and pay, the district and the distance, what to do next and how much time is left. A call counts only on the spot, so you have to get there.
- “Abandoned car”. The car stands by the curb with nobody in it. Running the plate takes 5 seconds: “Running plate ...”. Then the car is towed.
- “Crime scene”. The time in the zone runs only while you're in it on foot. Step out of the zone: “Back into the zone”, and the time stops. Each piece of evidence takes 3 seconds to collect, and you can collect them while the zone's time runs.
- “District patrol”. 4 checkpoints in one district of the city, in order, by car or on foot: “Checkpoint N of 4 passed”.
- “Injured citizen”. The citizen lies in the street, and everyone sees them. Resuscitation takes 8 seconds, and you stay next to them all that time. Then they get up and walk away.
- “News report”. You film only on foot: “Filming: 0:12 of 0:45”. While a store robbery is going on, N54 News's board shows “Live from a robbery” with the tag “Live · pays double”: such a report pays 1,200 €$. Robberies are on the Store robberies page.
- “Business inspection”. Checking the licence at each business takes 5 seconds: “Licences: N of 3”.
- “Perimeter round”. On foot only and in order: “Checkpoint N of 5 passed”.
#Pay and limits
- The money comes into your bank account as soon as the call is done: “Call done: abandoned car · +500 €$”. In the statement the line says “Duty call: abandoned car”.
- A character is paid for at most 6 calls an hour, counting the last 60 minutes: the board shows “N of 6 this hour”. After that it's “This hour's duty calls are done: the next in N min”.
- The police and the medics get no duty calls while two or more real 911 calls are waiting: “Real 911 calls are waiting: take them first”. How 911 calls work: Calling 911.
- While you're away from the keyboard, no calls are offered or taken, and a call you've taken is paused: “Paused: you're away”. Its 20 minutes run on meanwhile. When a character counts as away is on the Character and name page.
- Go off duty or leave the faction, get cuffed or jailed, and the call is off with no pay. If you leave the city for more than 2 minutes, the call is lost too.
How to go on duty is on the How factions work page.
