#Cells and weight
- Pockets: 30 cells, 6 to a row.
- A backpack adds rows: two rows for its first 10 kg of capacity, and one more row for every 10 kg after that.
- Your character carries up to 30 kg, and a backpack adds its capacity on top of that.
- Things you wear weigh nothing.
#Stacks
Every item has a limit: that's how many you can carry, and also how many fit in one cell. For example: 20 of one kind of food, 10 bandages, 5 MaxDocs, 300 handgun rounds.
- Drag items with the mouse into any cell: drop one onto the same item and the stacks merge, onto a different item and they swap places.
- Hold Shift while dragging, or use the “Split” button, to take part of a stack.
- “Sort” arranges your pockets by kind, name, weight or value.
#Equipment
| Slot | What goes there |
|---|---|
| Head, face | Hats, glasses |
| Jacket, shirt | Jackets, coats, tank tops, shirts |
| Legs, feet | Pants, boots, sneakers |
| Vest | Light or heavy vest |
| Weapon 1 and weapon 2 | On the 1 and 2 keys |
| Back | Backpack |
A double-click or “Use” puts on a piece of clothing, or puts a weapon in a free slot. If the slot is taken, whatever was in it goes back to your pockets.
#Mods on your guns
- Drag a mod onto a gun or its slot: it goes into place, and the gun's card shows in advance what it will replace.
- Right-click a mod: “Install on…”. A double-click installs the mod on the best-fitting gun.
- Right-click a gun: “Take off” and the mod's name. On the gun's card, every slot has a “Take off the mod” button.
- A mod on a gun weighs nothing. If the gun leaves you (thrown away, given, traded, or put in a wardrobe, a trunk or a faction stash), its mods go back to your pockets first.
More on the Weapon mods page.
#Food, drinks and medicine
- “Use” (or a double-click) eats, drinks or applies the item.
- Quick slots (3 to 6) keep food, drinks and medicine at hand.
- Food and drinks need 2 seconds between uses, medicine 6 seconds. If your character doesn't need anything the item gives, it isn't used up.
For what each item gives, see Food, drinks and medicine.
#Giving items
Right-click an item to give it to the nearest player within 4 m. They need enough room and weight to spare. For deals where both sides give something, there's the trade window.
#Throwing items away
- “Throw away” drops the item at your feet. Identical items you drop close together form one pile.
- You can't pick up a pile your other character threw down: “Your other character threw this down: it isn't yours to pick up”.
- A pile stays for 30 minutes if nothing is added to it. Anyone can pick it up: walk up to it and press E.
- You can't throw anything away from a car. One character can have at most 25 piles at a time.
#What you can't give or throw away
- Personal items: your phone and documents, including the gun license.
- Ammo.
- Anything a new character has, during their first 120 minutes of play: it can't be given, traded or thrown away. They can receive things right away. They can also put them into their own wardrobe or their own car's trunk right away, except the starter clothes.
The /inv chat command lists what you're carrying and how much it weighs.
