#Types of punishment
The server has six types of punishment. The names here are the same ones the punished player sees.
| Punishment | What happens | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Warning | Goes on your account's record and counts toward later violations. You see it with the reason, or the next time you log in if you were offline | Usually 30 days, sometimes 7 days or permanent |
| Jail term | Your character is put in a police cell. You can't walk away from the cell, and the time only counts while you're in the city | From 1 minute to 1,440 minutes |
| Voice ban | Nobody can hear you nearby, on the radio or on the phone. The text chat stays | From minutes to 365 days, or until lifted |
| Kicked from the server | You're disconnected from the server with a reason. You can join again right away | One-time |
| Account ban | The whole account is blocked, with all its characters | Temporary or permanent |
| Address ban | The IP address you connect from is blocked | Until lifted |
If you're banned, you see how much time is left, the reason and the name of the admin who issued the ban.
A voice ban comes with a notification saying how long it lasts, and while it's in force the voice indicator says “Your voice is banned”. If you join while it's in force, you're told again.
#How punishments are given
- The admin picks the punishment according to the rule that was broken. The lengths in the rules are for a first violation; repeat violations are punished more harshly.
- Active warnings count: the more you have, the harsher the next punishment. Warnings never turn into a ban automatically: a person always makes the decision.
- A new ban, voice ban or jail term replaces the one in force.
#Complaint about a player
- Press F3 and create a report in the “Complaint” category.
- Give the player's ID (for example #12): it's shown above their head and in the player list.
- Briefly describe what happened, where and when.
- Attach a link to a video. Without evidence it's hard, and sometimes impossible, to sort things out.
For more on the reports window, see Reports to the administration.
9.1
Filing knowingly false complaints and making false 911 calls are forbidden.
Punishment: 60-minute jail term; if repeated, a 1-day account ban
9.2
A complaint is filed first-hand, with evidence and without insults. One complaint, one situation.
Punishment for insults: the complaint is closed without review, and its author gets a warning
#Appeals
- If you disagree with a punishment, write a report or a thread on the forum: calmly and to the point, with a video if you have one.
- A punishment stays in force until it runs out or is lifted.
- You can appeal your own punishment. You can't plead on behalf of another player.
#What the administration does
- Makes sure the rules are followed and helps players through reports.
- Doesn't step into role-play situations without need and doesn't play other people's characters.
- Doesn't use its powers in its own play.
