You can buy almost any shop, diner, bar, barber, ripperdoc, gun shop or car dealership in the city. The owner earns from every sale, pays for the goods and the city's tax, and decides what markup to set.

- Tax a day: a quarter of a percent of the business's price.
- “Cost of goods”: the percentage of a purchase's base price that goes on the goods sold to the customer. The rest, and the markup, stays with the owner.
- “Sells back for”: 60% of the city's price, if you sell the business back to the city.
A gas station sells fuel its owner buys wholesale: more on the Fuel and gas stations page. A small station with 2-3 pumps costs 90,000 €$, with a tax of 225 €$ a day.
Banks, ATMs, clinics and the police aren't for sale.
#How to buy
- Go to the place and press E: above the goods on the shop screen there's a line about the business. If it's for sale, the buy button is right there.
- You can pay only from your bank account: cash won't do.
- One character can own no more than 2 businesses.
- The first tax is charged a day after you buy.
#How the owner earns
- A customer pays the full price with the markup, and all of it goes into the business's account.
- Each sale uses up goods worth its cost of goods. Goods are bought from the business's account one to one: an eddie buys an eddie's worth.
- In the end, the owner keeps the base price minus the cost of goods, plus the whole markup.
- If the goods run out, customers can still buy, but at the base price, and the business gets nothing. Such sales show up in the finances as missed. Keep an eye on your stock.
- At your own business, you buy at the base price, and so do your other characters: the business earns nothing from it.
- New characters pay the base price during their first 120 minutes of play, and the business gets nothing from their purchases.
- Money coming into the business's account pays off any tax debt first.
#Markup
- The city sets the prices of goods; the owner only sets the markup, from 0 to 30%.
- The markup applies only while there are enough goods in stock.
- You can change it no more than once every 30 seconds.
- Customers see the markup on the shop screen and never pay more than they were shown.
#The business account
You can top up the business account, withdraw money, buy goods and change the markup in the business panel at its place, or from anywhere in the “Business” app on your phone. Topping up the business account from your own account from afar needs an active bank card: at the place you don't need it. Each transaction is at least 100 €$, except when you withdraw the whole balance. A new character can top up a business account only after 120 minutes of play.
#Tax and debt
- The tax is charged once a day, at the hour you bought the business, from the business account. Days when the server was down don't count.
- If the account is short, the rest becomes a debt, and the owner gets a notification saying how many days are left.
- A debt counts as paid only once it's paid in full.
- If the tax goes unpaid 3 days in a row, the city takes the business. The owner's account gets 60% of the city's price, whatever is left in the business account and half the value of the goods, minus the debt.
#Selling a business
#To the city
At the business's place: the city pays 60% of its current price (not what you paid for it), plus the business account and half the value of the goods, minus any debt. The money goes into your account.
#To another player
- You both stand at the business's place, with the buyer no more than 6 m away.
- You set the price, and the buyer has 120 seconds to accept. They can accept no sooner than 3 seconds after the offer arrives or changes, so the buyer always sees the price first.
- The buyer pays from their account. You get the price and the whole business account, while the goods, the markup and the tax schedule pass to the new owner.
You can't sell while there's a tax debt, during the first 10 minutes after the business became yours, or while you're a new character (your first 120 minutes of play). The same limits apply to the buyer: no more than 2 businesses, and at least 120 minutes of play, even when the business is handed over for free.
#The owner's panel
| Tab | What's there |
|---|---|
| “Overview” | The business's status, account, goods and markup |
| “Finances” | Sales and expenses for 14 days, and the last 40 transactions |
| “Goods and prices” | Stock, buying goods and the markup |
| “Selling” | Selling to the city or to a player |
The “Business” app on your phone has two tabs: your businesses, and the market with every business in the city, its price and its map marker. Only people who are acquainted with the owner see the owner's name.
