#Joining
- You can only join a faction by invitation. A member whose rank has the Recruit permission can invite you through the G menu when they're next to you, or by your ID on the “Faction” tab.
- An invitation lasts 60 seconds. You can answer it with G or on the “Faction” tab.
- New members start at rank 1. You can only be in one faction.
- Leaders are appointed by the administration.
#Ranks and permissions
Each rank comes with its own salary and set of permissions. The top rank, the leader, has every permission.
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Recruit | Invite people into the faction |
| Dismiss | Dismiss members of a lower rank |
| Ranks | Promote and demote anyone below you, up to one rank under your own |
| Stash | Take items out of the faction stash (any member can put items in) |
| Vehicles | Take faction vehicles |
| Treasury | Withdraw money from the treasury (any member can pay in) |
| Radio | Talk on the radio (every member on duty hears it) |
| Handcuffs | Police: cuffing, escorting, putting people in cars, searching trunks |
| Fines | Police: write fines |
| Arrest | Police: put people in jail and let them out |
| Wanted | Police: put people on the wanted list and take them off it |
| Revive | Medics: revive and treat |
| Ads | N54 News: review, edit, publish and turn down ads |
| News | N54 News: put out breaking news |
Members of the same rank can't dismiss or demote each other. You can't change the rank of your own other character. The leader can't leave the faction on their own: the administration hands the faction over.
#Duty
The police, the medics, City Hall and N54 News work in shifts. Gangs don't go on duty: their members count as active the whole time they're in the city.
Arasaka's security works in shifts too, while the Aldecaldos nomads, like the gangs, never go on duty.
- Go to your faction's base, to the duty room. Only faction members see the “E” prompt there.
- Press E and choose “Go on duty” on the “Faction” tab. The
/dutycommand does the same. - You're now wearing the uniform, the duty weapons are in your slots and your radio is on your faction's channel.
- You can go off duty anywhere: with the “Go off duty” button or the same command.
You can't go on duty while unconscious, cuffed or in jail, and anyone who ends up in jail goes off duty at once. Duty doesn't carry over once you leave the game: go on duty again next time.
#Uniform and duty weapons
- The uniform goes on over your own clothes. For each part of the body you get the item from the highest rank you've reached. A whole-body outfit of your own comes off for the shift, and after it all your own clothes are back on you.
- Duty weapons (up to two guns) and duty ammo are issued by rank. The magazines come empty: reload with R, and the duty ammo is used first. A gun of your own loads only your own ammo from your pockets, on duty too.
- You can refill your duty ammo at the base once a minute.
- The uniform, weapons and ammo belong to the faction: you can't give them away, throw them away, put them in storage or take them off until your duty is over. When you go off duty, all of it is taken back automatically.
- Any of your own ammo loaded into a duty weapon goes back to your pockets at the end of the shift.
#Salary
- Your salary is paid into your bank account every 15 minutes on duty. In gangs, it's every 15 minutes in the city. You can withdraw it in cash at a bank or an ATM, and the statement lists it under “Income”.
- The city pays the police, the medics, City Hall and N54. Gangs are paid from their own treasury: if it's empty, there's no salary for that period. Money your other characters paid into the treasury in the last 7 days doesn't go into your salary.
- Arasaka pays its own people; the Aldecaldos are paid from the clan's treasury.
- The countdown starts over when you go on duty and when you join the game: an unfinished period is lost.
- The countdown stops while you're unconscious, cuffed, in jail or inside a home or a hotel room, and when you haven't moved or looked around for 15 minutes or the screen says “You're away” (see Character and name).
- The “Faction” tab shows your salary, the time until the next one and how much you've earned in total.
#Treasury
- Any faction member can pay cash into the treasury at the base. A new character can pay in only after 120 minutes of play.
- Only a rank with the Treasury permission can withdraw, also at the base. The money is paid out in cash.
- Money your other characters paid in over the last 7 days (deposits, fines, treatment and ad fees) stays in the treasury: you can't withdraw it. The game says “What your other characters paid in this week stays in the treasury: N €$ at most”.
- The tab shows the last 12 transactions.
- Where the city's money goes: fines to the City Hall treasury, payments for revives and treatment to the Trauma Team treasury, ad fees to the N54 News treasury. When a new character pays (their first 120 minutes of play), the money goes to the city, not to a treasury.
#Stash
The stash is at the base. Any faction member can put items in it; taking them out needs a rank with the Stash permission. Ammo, personal items and starter clothes can't go in the stash, and a new character can't put anything in it for their first 120 minutes of play. You can't take out what your other characters put in over the last 7 days: “What your other characters put in this week stays in the stash: N at most”. Each faction's stash has its own capacity, from 150 to 500 kg: see your faction's page.
#Faction vehicles
- You can take a car at the base if your rank has the Vehicles permission (every faction gives it from rank 2) and is at least the rank that car requires. In government factions you also have to be on duty.
- The car comes out on the road at your faction's base nearest to you, on the free spot nearest to you. Each base has several car spots: 4 at each NCPD precinct, 6 at every other base. A notification tells you which car is waiting and its plate.
- If every spot at the base is taken (any car standing on a spot takes it), you get no car, and a message says “Every spot at the base is taken: return a car”.
- Each member can have only one faction car. Its plate is the faction's tag followed by three digits.
- If your rank is lowered and the car is no longer one it can take, the car goes back to the base: “Your faction car went back: your rank doesn't take it out”.
- You hand the car back within 45 m of the base or of the spot where the cars come out. It can't be parked in a garage: the game says “A faction's car goes back at its base, not into a garage”. When you go off duty, leave the faction or leave the game, the car goes back on its own.
- Any faction member can get into a faction car.
#Radio and faction chat
- Radio: hold B. Every faction member on duty hears you, wherever they are. People standing next to you hear your normal voice. The screen shows who's talking on the radio right now.
- Faction chat: the
/f messagecommand, or Tab in the chat line. Every faction member who's online sees the messages, even when off duty.
