Five drugs from the game's world go around Night City's streets: Black Lace, Glitter, Synthcoke, Dorph and Smash. Each has a short high that is always followed by a comedown, and possessing them is illegal. Everything they do is worked out by the server, the same for everyone. This page explains how it works and what your character risks.
#What they do
| Drug | Price a dose | High | Comedown | Load |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Black Lace | 1,200 €$ | 1.5 min: +10 health at once, damage taken −25% | 3 min: damage taken +20%, health no higher than 70 | 2 |
| Glitter | 700 €$ | 2 min: +25 health over it, no hunger, no thirst | 4 min: hunger and thirst grow twice as fast, healing works at half, Water −30 at once | 2 |
| Synthcoke | 400 €$ | 5 min: +5 health at once, your blows +10%, no hunger, no thirst | 5 min: damage taken +10%, hunger and thirst grow twice as fast, Fed −25 and Water −20 at once | 1 |
| Dorph | 450 €$ | 2.5 min: +30 health over it, damage taken −10% | 3 min: damage taken +10%, healing works at half | 1 |
| Smash | 250 €$ | 1.5 min: damage taken −5%, your blows +30% | 2.5 min: your blows −20% | 1 |
- The high, then the comedown. A dose starts the high at once, and when it ends, the comedown sets in. Above the “Biomonitor” panel a “HIGH” or “COMEDOWN” card shows the drug's name and the time left.
- “Damage taken” covers shots, blows, blasts and car hits. Falls, fire, hunger and thirst hurt as usual.
- “Your blows” covers blows with fists, blades and clubs.
- The visions. While a drug works, your screen shows the game's own effect: the world sways or your head spins.
- How to take it. In the inventory (Tab), right-click the dose: “Take a dose”. Doses need 6 seconds between them, and you can't take one while cuffed or unconscious.
- You can't sit a comedown out offline. While you're not in the city, the comedown's clock stands and goes on when you're back. If the high ran out while you were away, the whole comedown starts when you return.
#Load and overdose
- Every dose loads your body: by how much is in the table. The load drops by 1 every 4 minutes.
- One drug works at a time. Another dose of the same drug starts its high over again. A dose of another drug takes over from the one before, and mixing adds 1 more to the load.
- From a load of 3 you get a warning: “Your body is at its limit: the next dose could be one too many”.
- At a load of 5 you overdose: your character passes out. From there it's like any loss of consciousness: medics or the hospital.
- Passing out ends it all: the high, the comedown and the load. Except dying in a pit or off the edge of the map: after that, all of it stays.
#Night dealers
- Only the night dealers sell drugs. No shop sells them.
- The dealers stand in the gangs' districts, and they're on no map: you have to find them. Each has goods of their own.
- They trade only at night by the game's time, from 20:00 to 6:00. By day a dealer won't talk business: “I don't trade by day. Come after eight in the evening.”
- Cash only, at the price the dealer showed.
- At most 10 doses a night to one character, from all the dealers together.
Walk up to a dealer, look at them and press E: “Talk to the dealer”. The “Night dealer” window opens with the goods, the prices and how many doses you can still get tonight.
#Police
- Possessing drugs is illegal. An officer on duty can search a detainee in handcuffs (“Search” in the G menu or
/frisk) and confiscate every drug in their pockets into the service's stash. Drugs in a trunk are confiscated in a trunk search. More on the Police and the law page. - The fine for drugs is written as usual.
- The signs show. If your character is under the influence of a drug, the officer sees it in the search.
- A new character is safe from confiscation for their first 120 minutes of play, like their trunk, but the officer still sees the drugs found.
#Marketplace
Drugs are bought and sold on the marketplace too, in the “Drugs” category. The seller stays anonymous there: the lot's card says “Anonymous”, deals don't name the other side, and instead of a shop price it says “At the night dealers”. No license is needed to buy.
