#Where to buy a car
Cars are sold at six Autofixer dealerships. They all have the same catalog, and the car you buy waits on the lot of the dealership where you bought it.
| Area | District |
|---|---|
| The Glen | Heywood |
| Coastview | Pacifica |
| Arroyo | Santo Domingo |
| Rancho Coronado | Santo Domingo |
| Northside | Watson |
| Japantown | Westbrook |
#Catalog
Walk up to a dealership and press E. The catalog has:
- search by name and maker, class filters and a “Within budget” button that leaves only what you can afford;
- sorting by price, power and year;
- for each car: armor, power, power-to-weight, top speed compared with the other cars, drive, seats, mass, year and a description.
Every model and its price is listed on the Vehicle catalog page.
#Buying
- Pick a car in the catalog and click “Buy”.
- Confirm with a second click within a few seconds.
- The car appears on the dealership's lot, locked. You have the key. If another car is already standing on the lot, yours waits in your garage instead (“It's waiting in your garage: no room at the dealership right now”): take it out at any garage or call it with the phone.
- Payment: your bank account pays first, and cash covers the rest. The catalog shows in advance how much comes from each.
- Limit: up to 5 cars per character. Starter vehicles don't count.
- Plates are random and unique: three letters and three digits, like ABC 123.
- Player-owned dealerships. If a player owns the dealership, their markup of up to 30% may be added to the price, and the catalog shows it before you buy. New characters pay the base price for their first 120 minutes of play.
You can't sell a car to a dealership or to another player yet.
#Test drive
Test drives are free. Click “Test drive” in the catalog and the car appears on the lot.
| Rule | Limit |
|---|---|
| Duration | 3 minutes |
| Distance from the dealership | Up to 1,500 m |
| Cooldown before the next one | 10 minutes for your whole account |
| Passengers | Not allowed |
- You have 30 seconds to get in. If you drive too far, a “Turn back” warning appears.
- The test drive ends when time runs out or when you go beyond the allowed distance, leave the car for more than 15 seconds or wreck it. You can also end it yourself.
- Afterwards the car disappears, and you're back where you stood at the dealership.
- You can't start a test drive while you're unconscious, cuffed, in jail, wanted, on a job shift or in a car, or if another car is taking up the spot on the lot.
