Green zones

A green zone is a circle around a place where people go about their business instead of fighting. While you're in one, a “Green zone” badge lights up above the “Biomonitor” panel, your weapon is put away and your fists won't come up.

A zone covers the place itself, not the street around it: it only reaches 4 m vertically from the place's point. House doors, contacts, wardrobes and faction bases aren't green zones.

There's one more zone without a badge: 15 m around the city's spawn by the Bank of Night City, where new characters appear. The “Green zone” badge doesn't light up there and weapons stay out, but the server doesn't count shots, blows or rams there either.

#What the server blocks

  • Shooting from a zone. The shot doesn't count and other players don't see it, but the rounds still leave your magazine.
  • Hurting someone in a zone, or hurting anyone while you're standing in one. This covers shots, blows and car hits.
  • Raising your fists.

#What the server still allows

  • The police can cuff you, lead you away and put you in a car, even in a green zone.
  • An unconscious person can be picked up and carried.
  • Hunger, thirst and falls hurt as usual.

#What the rules forbid

Rule 5.14: in a green zone you don't provoke fights, threaten people with weapons or hide from a chase to escape responsibility. Gangs don't use zones for ambushes or to gather before an attack: rule 7.4.
