A repair kit puts a car back on its wheels without a mechanic: flat tyres are whole again, and the car drives. You can fix your own car, a friend's or a faction car when there's no mechanic around.
#Where to buy
- 900 €$ at every 24/7 store and kiosk and at every gas station: at a station it's in the pump's window, next to the jerry can.
- A repair kit weighs 2 kg, and up to 3 fit in one pocket cell. It can be given, traded and sold like any item.
#How to fix a car
- Get out of the car and walk right up to it.
- Look at the car and press G: the menu has “Repair”. Its card shows the car's condition, how many wheels are flat and how many kits you have. Or press “Use” on the kit in your inventory: then the nearest car gets fixed.
- Your character kneels at the car and works on it for 8 seconds. Everyone around sees and hears it. At the end the kit is used up.
#What it fixes
- Wheels: every flat or punctured tyre is whole again.
- Engine and body: the car's condition goes up to 60% if it was lower. The car stops smoking and drives properly again.
- It doesn't fix broken windows and dents: that's a full repair by a mechanic or in a garage. A car above 60% with no flat wheels needs no repair.
- One car can be fixed with a kit once in 10 minutes.
#When it won't work
- Not from inside the car: get out first.
- The car must stand still. If it moves or rolls away during the repair, you walk away from it or it gets damaged, the repair stops and you keep the kit. A car someone else is already fixing can't be fixed.
- A destroyed car can't be saved by a kit: your own comes back only through the insurance, see Garages and calling your car.
- During a race a car is fixed only after the finish. Test-drive cars, sunken cars and the city's own cars (the broken-down cars for mechanics and fixers' gig cars, say) can't be fixed with a kit.
