Health, hunger and getting knocked out

#Health and armor

Health and armor go from 0 to 100 and are shown in the bottom left corner of the screen. Everything that happens to them is decided by the server: damage in a shootout, getting hit by a car, a fall.

  • Armor only exists while you're wearing a vest: a light vest gives 50, a heavy one 100. Armor absorbs part of the damage from shots and blows, but not from falls, fire, hunger or thirst. When the armor runs out, the vest is ruined and disappears. More in Weapons, ammo and armor.
  • Health comes back with food, drinks and medicine; a medic or a clinic desk restores it completely.

#Hunger and thirst

On the right of the “Biomonitor” panel are two rings, Fed and Water.

They go down while you're in the city and on your feet:

BarFull to empty
Fed120 minutes
Water90 minutes
  • When Fed or Water drops to 20, a reminder appears on the screen, and below 15 its ring pulses red.
  • At zero, your character loses 1 health every 30 seconds, and armor doesn't protect against that. Hunger can knock you out.

  • Food and drinks are used from the inventory (Tab, “Use”) or from the quick slots 3-6.
  • You have to wait 2 seconds between food or drinks and 6 seconds between medicines.
  • If your character doesn't need anything an item gives, the server won't use it up.

#Getting knocked out

When your health drops to zero, your character is knocked out. The screen goes dark and shows how long until you wake up in hospital.

Your character falls and lies on the ground, and other players see them lying there. If a medic revives them on the spot, they get back on their feet.

  • While you're unconscious, you can't move, shoot, use voice chat, or use your phone or items. If it happens at the wheel, the car brakes and won't drive on.
  • After 60 seconds you come to at the clinic nearest to where you went down, with 100 health. Fed and Water are raised to at least 40.
  • Handcuffs come off when you're discharged. If you're serving jail time, you come to in your cell.
  • Leaving the game doesn't get you back on your feet where you lay: next time you join, you appear at the clinic nearest to that spot, also with 100 health.
  • For the first 10 seconds after you're discharged, you can't be hurt, unless you shoot, hit or ram someone yourself.

#What you keep

Nothing is lost when you're knocked out: your money, items, weapons, cars and home all stay with you. A few things do change, though:

  • Any test drive ends.
  • A cash collector loses the bonus for the current run if there was money in the truck.
  • The knockout counter on your character card goes up.

#Getting back sooner

  • A Trauma Team medic can revive you on the spot in 8 seconds: you get up with 35 health and remember everything. Medics are called through 911, and anyone nearby with a phone can do it.
  • Friends can pick you up without your consent and carry you to a medic or put you in a car.

Once you're discharged from a clinic, the New Life Rule applies: your character doesn't remember what happened and stays away from the scene of the conflict for 15 minutes.
