City map and minimap

The single-player game's map and minimap are gone on the server: ours stand in their place. The map opens with M over the running game, and the minimap is always in the screen's top right corner.

#The map on M

  • No pause. The map opens over the city and stops nothing: time goes on, people and cars around keep moving, and the game itself shows round the window's edges. Your character stands still meanwhile. Close the map with M or Esc.
  • The whole city. From afar you see the whole map of Night City, and closer in the single buildings, streets and metro lines show, the districts' borders and names, the green zones and you with an arrow the way you face.
  • Mouse. The mouse wheel zooms in and out where the cursor is, the left button drags the map and picks an icon: it opens a card with the name, the district and the distance from you.
  • Keys. Space brings the map back to you, the plus and minus keys zoom.

#A mark and a route

  • Set a mark: the right mouse button on a street or on a place's icon. The route is laid along the roads at once and shows on the map, on the minimap and over the world, like a GPS route.
  • Remove the mark: the right mouse button again, anywhere on the map, or “Remove the mark” on its card.
  • “Set the route” is on any place's card too.
  • The mark on the map and the mark from the phone's GPS app are one and the same, and the GPS's “On the map” button opens our map right at that place: Phone apps.

#Categories and search

On the map's left is the list of categories, each with its icon, colour and number of places. Any of them can be switched off, and its icons go from both the map and the minimap. Your choice is kept after a restart too.

CategoryWhat's in it
Tasks and routesYour mark, the route, a quest, a shift task, a duty call, a fixer's gig, a 911 call, a taxi, a cargo. This category can't be switched off
MineYour home, hotel room, your job's depot, your faction's bases, your family's HQ, your gang's workbench and materials point
Homes and hotelsHouses and apartments: yours, with your key, for sale and others', and hotels
Shops24/7 stores and kiosks, diners, bars, clothes shops, gun shops
ServicesBarbershops, garages, gas stations and other places
Banks and ATMsBanks and ATMs
MedicineHospitals, pharmacies and ripperdocs
WorkThe job center, job depots, marketplace warehouses
TransportCar dealerships, rentals, the driving school, scrapyards
LeisureThe casino and race starts
City servicesPolice stations and the family registry
PeopleYour faction's and family's people nearby
Green zonesThe outlines of the green zones
  • The search at the top left finds a place or a district by any word of its name: pick a result and the map moves to it.
  • Homes are coloured: yours gold, with your key blue, for sale green (seen from a district's zoom), others' grey and only close in. For a building with several apartments the card says how many more doors there are and how many of them are for sale.
  • Your people on the map. Your faction's members show on the map and the minimap while you're both on duty (in gangs and the Aldecaldos always, while you're in the city), and so do your family's members. Only the ones nearby show. Strangers never do.
  • Faction marks. The marks your faction mates set show on the map too: Marks for your own.

#The minimap

  • In the top right corner. The minimap turns with the camera, the letter “N” on its rim shows north, and the strip at its foot shows the district and the distance to your mark.
  • What's on it. The streets and buildings round you, the route, your mark, the places' icons (the same categories as on the big map), your faction's and family's people, the green zones. A mark or a quest beyond its edge is held on the edge, the way it lies.
  • Under the minimap are your money and the place card of where you stand, with the green zone's strip.
  • When it's hidden. The minimap hides while the phone, the main window (F1 / F2) or a conversation is open, while your character is unconscious and on a loading screen.
  • In single player the game's own map and minimap work as usual: ours are only on the server.
